Early Life and Artistic Beginnings

Nidia Ripoll was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on August 8th, 1988. Her parents were both musicians, and she inherited their love of music. Nidia began playing the piano when she was five years old, and later took up the violin. She started composing her own music at the age of eight.

In 2004, Nidia won a national composition competition in Argentina with her piece “Tango para una ciudad desconocida” (“Tango for an Unknown City”). This led to her first professional commission, to write a tango for the Buenos Aires Tango Orchestra. She was just sixteen years old at the time.

Nidia studied classical composition at the University of Buenos Aires from 2006 to 2010. She also began exploring other genres such as jazz and folk music. After graduation, she moved to Barcelona to continue her studies at the prestigious Music Conservatory of Catalonia.

It was in Barcelona that Nidia really found her voice as a composer. She began writing pieces that blended Argentine folk music with jazz and classical influences. Her unique style caught the attention of many well-known musicians, and she soon began collaborating with them on various projects.
