Singapore’s economy expanded 5.4% from a year earlier in the third quarter of 2026, according to advance estimates released by the Ministry of Energy, Trade and Industry on 14 October. Growth slowed from a revised 6.2% in the preceding quarter.

The quarterly comparison also showed a moderation. After adjusting for seasonal effects, GDP increased 1.1% from the second quarter, following growth of 1.5% in that earlier period. The annual and quarterly measures therefore both pointed to continued expansion at a slower pace.

Manufacturing grew 7.5% year on year, compared with 12.9% in the second quarter. Electronics, precision engineering, transport engineering and general manufacturing expanded, offsetting declines in chemicals and biomedical manufacturing. On the seasonally adjusted quarterly measure, manufacturing output contracted 0.9%, after growing 6.3% in the previous quarter.

These are advance estimates rather than final quarterly national accounts. For businesses assessing demand, the sector breakdown matters: aggregate growth can coexist with weaker conditions in particular industries. Subsequent revisions should be checked against the linked official publication.
