The World Bank announced on 14 September 2026 that its board had approved three projects supported by loans totalling $666.74 million for Viet Nam. The financing focuses on trade corridors, urban resilience and the coastal fisheries economy.

In Hai Phong, a $260.1 million project will build a new section of Ring Road 3 and expand wastewater treatment and flood protection. The bank expects the work to reduce truck travel times between key locations and improve conditions for more than 311,000 residents.

A second project, worth $251.12 million, will rehabilitate 251 kilometres of highways in the Mekong Delta. The stated objective is reliable year-round connectivity, including during heavy rainfall, helping agricultural producers move goods to market. The fisheries project, backed by $155.52 million, will modernise nine fishing ports and support sustainable fishing and aquaculture infrastructure.

The fisheries operation is expected to benefit more than 525,000 people. These are projected outcomes, rather than delivered results. For exporters, transport reliability and reduced supply-chain losses are central. The announcement records financing approvals; realised benefits require subsequent reporting.
